5th Annual DeHart Anniversary: Philadelphia's Old City & Society Hill

The historical part of Philadelphia was just gorgeous. There were a lot of original roads,  and many of the homes were kept in pristine condition. You can tell that they work really hard on preserving the history of this city. We stayed at the Sheraton in Society Hill, just a few blocks from Old City. It was this quiet corner nestled between the city and the river. Our room looked out on the bridge that connects Philly to NJ. It was the perfect place. I had been a little worried about visiting a city for our getaway weekend, since that's all I do, is city living, but this 'city' was no where near as insane, dirty, or loud as NY, so it was a nice respite from our day to day. We bought our room on Hotwire, so I didn't really know where we would end up, but it all worked out.

 Diaper changes cannot wait!

The very room where our founding fathers commited treason. It gave me chills.

 The back of Independence Hall

The original building that held the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court

Washington Square Park sits on thousands of unmarked graves from the Revolutionary War

Scott used to be a Numismatist, so seeing the US Mint was really exciting to him. We'd love to come back and tour it.

 President James Madison's house.

 Christ Church
We didn't get to go inside, I would have really loved to next time we visit.

Last but not least....stay tuned for my 'The Ivies" post, about U Penn.
