This past weekend was Parents Weekend at The US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. We decided to hop on a Greyhound and meet my parents and Lydia down there to help celebrate Liberty's near completion of Plebe Summer.
It was so wonderful to see Liberty in her element and to see how much she has changed into a Midshipman. But, even though she might look different and can beat me up, she is still our same, awesome Liberty! The weather was perfect, and we spent time walking around The Yard and Old Town Annapolis. I was so excited to experience both. There is so much history and beauty in Maryland, who knew?
They put on a parade for us before The Plebes were let go, or were on 'Liberty' for the rest of the day. It was quite a sight to see all 1,200 Plebes march before us. We were so proud of her! We spent the afternoon relaxing with each other, and ended the evening with a trip to the movies. We saw Guardians of the Galaxy and it was pretty awesome.
They shot off 11 cannon. The first one scared everyone half to death.
She is on the left, second from the back.
G Company is in the bottom left. You can see Liberty in the second row.
Tecumseh. A little Hometown connection.
Proud Parents!
The State House is just gorgeous!
As you can imagine, sailing is a HUGE part of the community.
Not gonna lie, I was really excited to find this anchor shirt.
Love this girl!
USNA Chapel. It was incredible!
There was a man who was playing the organ. Amazing!
The official Mascot of USNA.
The Ram
The Detty Family reunited!!!
It was so nice to have everyone together again. Well, almost everyone. Brad is away on his two week training for the National Guard and he was sorely missed. Scott and I can't wait to make another weekend trip down to see Liberty. I love the area so much, I would totally live there.
We are so proud of you Liberty!!!
Love Always,
Lauren Marie
